About

Catherine Ryan, CFACatherine Ryan, CFA is a Registered Investment Advisor with over 10 years of experience as a professional money manager. Her time spent managing institutional accounts and mutual funds allowed her to get an inside look at the business of investing. Her background is in computer science and after 10 years of software programming she moved into quantitative investing at a global investment firm in Boston. Upon earning her MBA from Carroll School of Management at Boston College she accepted an offer to help manage a successful value oriented mutual fund. Time on this fund provided valuable experience. Since that time she has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and appreciates the emphasis the ICFA places on ethics and professionalism. Integrity is the hallmark of the Cedar Rock enterprise.

Catherine believes that her real value to clients comes from positioning them in the most cost effective way to participate in all areas of the market. Using exchange-traded funds in a brokerage account, instead of mutual funds, can be a significant cost savings. In what may end up being a rather flat market over the next few years, fees count. Keeping known costs down can make a significant impact on actual returns over an investor’s time horizon. Catherine is a fee-only advisor and is not associated with a broker/dealer. Cedar Rock never takes a commission on a trade or makes a recommendation in exchange for compensation. Catherine would be happy to calculate the costs of your current investments. Also check out her LinkedIn profile.
